Transforming Our World”

POSTED: APRIL 2011

Steven A. Mills, Senior Vice President and Group Executive, Software & Systems, IBM Corporation will present “How Computers are Transforming Our World”in the Donald A. Krenz Academic Center at Concordia College on April 3. A light breakfast will be served at 7am, followed by the presentation at 7:30am.

IBM’s industry-leading products power more than 100,000 enterprises around the world. Since 1989, Mills has held various executive leadership positions at IBM, playing a lead role in the growth of IBM Software Group since its inception in 1995.

In 2010, Mills was named to his current position, adding hardware and systems to his responsibilities.Mills has lead IBM’s cloud computing business, a major shift in the technology industry where digital services are distributed through big data centers that can be accessed remotely over the internet from anywhere-- as if the services were in a cloud. Not only is cloud computing a more efficient means of distributing digital services, but analysts predict it will reduce costs by about half.

IBM forecasts it will have $7 billion in cloud revenue by 2015. Of the total, $4 billion will be customers shifting to cloud delivery from the company’s traditional software and services, and $3 billion is expected to be entirely new business.

A graduate of New York’s Union College, Steve Mills and his wife, Marianne, live in Bronxville and New York City. Their two sons graduated from the Bronxville School.

This free program is provided through the support of BNY Mellon Wealth Management and Friends of Concordia College. Reservations are strongly recommended. Contact ellen.desaintphalle@concordia-ny.edu to RSVP.
